Army awards Middle East communications contract

Comtech Telecommunications Corp.’s subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corp., received a $2.8 million contract from the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command to support the deployment of the Republic of Georgia Army in the Middle East. The contract is for the supply of the company’s Quick Deploy Satellite System (QDSS), satellite network bandwidth, training and technical support. The QDSS is a portable briefcase communications platform that includes a mobile satellite transceiver, embedded GPS, in-vehicle computers and the company’s satellite network infrastructure.
