Boeing to build SATCOM satellite

The Boeing Co. announced that the U.S. Air Force has exercised an option for a sixth wideband global SATCOM satellite. The Commonwealth of Australia is funding the procurement as part of a cooperative agreement between the U.S. and Australian governments. It is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2012.
