Boston-area ambulance service implements APCO EMD

Brewster Ambulance Service recently implemented the APCO Institute Emergency Medical Dispatch.

The APCO Institute EMD Program, based on EMD Guidecards and software, is a systematic way to manage emergency medical service (EMS) resources in an organized and effective manner and to provide medical assistance to callers, when needed, until medically trained field response units arrive at the scene.
Brewster Ambulance Service provides fully equipped and modern fleets with the most technologically advanced medical equipment, insuring the highest level of patient care. Brewster is licensed to provide service throughout Massachusetts specifically in Metro Boston, South Coast - Fall River, New Bedford, Wareham and 911 providers for Middleborough, Ma. All units are staffed by state certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-B) and Paramedics (EMT-P).

Employees of Brewster Ambulance Service work in 12 hour shifts, with 12 personnel and two dedicated emergency medical dispatchers (EMD) or emergency medical technicians (EMT) per shift. Eighty field personnel and 12 EMD's and EMT's staff Brewster for the more than 100 daily emergency responses.
