Dataradio lands Denver-based mobile-data contract

Oxnard, Calif.-based CalAmp Corp.announced that its Dataradio operating unit has been awarded a $2.3 million contract from Denver, Colo., officials to construct a mobile-data network to be used by law enforcement. The Dataradio G3 agile dual band (ADB) 800 MHZ/700 MHz IP platform operates at data rates up to 32 kb/s and 64 kb/s, and is designed to let dispatchers relay information to field personnel and to let law enforcement personnel access information from remote databases, according to the company. The system initially will support about 500 mobile units.
