Globecomm Systems lands $20.7 million contact

Hauppsuge, N.Y.-based Globecomm Systems has been awarded a $20.7 million from General Communication, an Alaska-based voice, video and data communication company that serves residential, commercial and government customers. The network will combine Globecomm’s SatCell switching solution with UTStarcom’s MovingMedia 2000 cellular soft switch platform and Vanu’s Anywave Radio Access Network, which contains the first software-defined base station to be certified by the Federal Communications Commission, according to Globecomm.
