Nov 2, 2006 5:48 PM

ABI Research this week said in a report that the market for radio-frequency identification (RFID) solutions deployed by aerospace and defense companies will exceed $2 billion by 2011. The report identified the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sector as one that shows particular promise. “RFID can fulfill many MRO event requirements by enabling real-time track-and-trace and unique identification,” said Michael Liard, ABI Research director, in a statement. He further described RFID as an “enabling technology that can facilitate a shift from corrective to predictive maintenance strategies.”
