DoE shows interest in commercial networks

The Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory chose Nokia to expand its GSM/EDGE networks in order to support the laboratory’s evaluation of commercial wireless technology for government use. As part of the agreement, the company will supply GSM radio equipment and services, including a mobile softswitch solution based on 3GPP Release 4 Core architecture, according to the company.
