University health system sends sonographs wirelessly

Toronto’s University Health Network and Mount Sinai Hospital have deployed SonoSite’s MicroMaxx system across three emergency rooms. The system offers wireless connectivity, so an emergency-room sonographer can transmit images to a centralized picture-archiving and communication system housed in a radiology suite. The radiologist then can view images and provide real-time diagnostic evaluations to emergency physicians, according to SonoSite.
