M2M developer offers analog-to-digital converter

Jul 19, 2007 4:03 PM, - MRT

Machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions developer Numerex Corp. and wireless communication solutions provider CalAmp Corp. co-developed a solution for the migration of M2M applications and users from analog to digital networks. The CMM9900 AMPS radio conversion modem facilitates plug-n-play conversion for installed advanced mobile phone system (AMPS) module-based products on the Numerex network. The device converts the data to GSM/GPRS, or digital, protocols. According to the companies, the solution addresses the upcoming Federal Communication Commission’s rule effective in February 2008 that states cellular licensees no longer will be required to provide AMPS analog network services.
