NSA certifies WLAN

Rochester, N.Y.-based Harris Corp. announced that its SecNet 54 wireless local area network product received Type 1 certification from the National Security Agency’s Commercial COMSEC evaluation program. The product offers point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions for data, video and voice over IP (VoIP). It uses standard IEEE 802.11 wireless protocols, offers data rates of up to 54 Mb/s and features line-of-site operating ranges of up to 100 meters indoors and up to 600 meters outdoors, according to the company.
