Pa. fire departments experience mysterious static
May 26, 2011 12:36 PM
From WTAE TV: Emergency officials in several local counties called the FCC for help after strange static started interfering with calls this week.
The frequency used by Westmoreland, Somerset, Indiana and Fayette County EMS dispatchers experienced a constant static interference, and that effected the way fire departments were dispatched.
Emergency and ambulance services were not affected by the static.
The four counties were able to use alternate frequencies to cover about 95% of their counties.
