Companies partner on police video surveillance system

Mar 19, 2007 12:40 PM, - MRT

BearCom worked with Sony Electronics, Firetide and Bridgewave Communications to install a wireless video surveillance network for the Dallas Police Department. The initial phase of the installation consisted of 40 Sony cameras, 32 Firetide mesh nodes and seven Bridgewave transfer units. Components installed on the exterior of buildings and on streetlight and traffic signal poles in downtown Dallas support video data transfer. Most cameras have motorized controls, which let officers or public-safety staff in a remote monitoring locations move the angle of the camera lens or use a zoom feature to capture specific details of a scene, according to BearCom.
