U.N. Foundation partners with industry to deliver global, emergency communications

The U.N. Foundation and the Vodafone Group Foundation announced a five-year, public-private program formed to provide emergency-response communications systems to disaster areas within 48 hours. Under the plan, the foundations will provide $2 million to Telecom Sans Frontiers to deploy rapid response telecom teams within 48 hours of disaster in coordination with UNICEF and the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
