Nokia Networks cuts jobs

Nokia, the world’s No. 1 cell phone maker, announced that it will slash 550 jobs in its networks operations division worldwide.
The cuts – set for operations in the in the United States, Britain, Sweden and Finland – represent 3 percent of the company’s networks division are part of the company’s plans to trim its research and development.
Nokia officials said it will transfer some operations from its site in Santa Rosa, Calif., to its Finnish headquarters near Helsinki, but will close the California location eventually.
Nokia Networks employs roughly 18,500 people.
