Motorola said this week that it has agreed to acquire CRISNET, Inc., a privately-held developer of advanced records management and related systems for criminal justice and public safety customers. The acquisition must be approved by CRISNET’s shareholders, but is expected to close before the end of the year, Motorola said.

The acquisition, which is subject to CRISNET’s shareholder approvals and other customary closing conditions, is expected to close this year. Additional financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, CRISNET has developed software applications for law enforcement, justice and public safety agencies since 1984. Among its applications is NetRMS, a web-based records management system accessible using a secure browser-based network connection and CRISNET Cruiser. When used in tandem with NetRMS, CRISNET Cruiser enables personnel in the field to work case and incidents files from a mobile unit
