PCTEL purchases antenna assets from Andrew

Oct 29, 2004 5:29 PM

PCTEL has agreed to acquire selected assets associated with Andrew Corp.’s mobile antenna business for $10 million in cash. The assets include Andrew's GPS, On-Glass, and Antenna Specialists antenna brands. The product lines will now be developed, manufactured, and supported by PCTEL's Maxrad Product Group, which was purchased in January 2004. As a result, PCTEL said it would purchase a 75,000 square-foot building in Bloomingdale, Ill., that will house all its antenna brands, including Maxrad. The company said it would move manufacturing from two of Andrew's factories in Mexico to this new facility, and will increase its headcount in Illinois by about 45 employees. At the same time, it will sell its existing Hanover Park, Ill., facility, the company said.
