Symbol Technologies posts solid financial quarter

Enterprise mobility solutions vendor Symbol Technologies reported revenues for third quarter 2004 of $442.7 million, a 17% increase over the $377.1 million reported in the year-ago quarter, and the highest quarterly revenues ever recorded by the company. Net income for the quarter was $21.1 million, or 9 cents per share, nearly double the $11.5 million, or $0.05 per share, posted for the same quarter last year. The company reported that its September acquisition of Matrics, Inc. had a negative impact on third-quarter 2004 net earnings of $13.8 million, or 5 cents per share.
