M/A-COM announced that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has awarded the company an $8.9 million contract to deploy an IP-based 700/800 MHz OpenSky wireless voice and data network. The new network will serve about 2000 LVMPD officers and provide interoperable communications with surrounding agencies, the company said. It also will let users transmit voice and short data messages, as well as file transfers, and will integrate with the department's dispatch center.
