MAXRAD unfurls new parabolic line
Antenna manufacturer MAXRAD Inc. announced the addition of a new series of parabolic grid antennas to their successful WISPerformance line of affordable wireless Internet antenna solutions.
The new lineup comprises three new models designed for use in wireless ISP applications requiring minimum wind loading and maximum durability.
The WISPerformance parabolic grids are ideal for point-to-point or wireless bridging applications operating in frequencies between 2.4 GHz and 2.7 GHz. They are vertically polarized and DC grounded, and their rugged zinc plated cold rolled steel design features a polyester powder coat finish that provides maximum protection against weather elements.
The series comprises three models designed to provide high gain and maximum value and reliability in a compact, rugged design. The WISP24019PTNF, the WISP24021PTNF and the WISP24024PTNF provide 19 dBi, 21 dBi and 24 dBi of gain respectively, with a VSWR of less than 1.5:1.
All models include a 24-inch RG-58/U pigtail terminated with an N, female connector. The antennas are designed for mast mounting and are shipped complete with all required mounting hardware.

Centurion announces D-Puck
Centurion Wireless Technologies Inc. has announced the Tri-band D-Puck, a new internal antenna simultaneously supporting IEEE wireless standards 802.11 a, b and g. The D-Puck is a high performance, versatile tri-band micro antenna for portable devices like laptops and PDAs, as well as fixed devices like Wireless LAN (WLAN) access points and cable modem gateways.
The D-Puck supports the 802.11 a, b and g frequency bands at 2.4 – 2.5 GHz and 5.15 – 5.875 GHz. Roughly the size of a computer chip, the D-Puck can be easily integrated into laptops and handheld devices to access networks that use different frequencies within the 2 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
The D-Puck also can be used as the internal companion to an external antenna to enable antenna diversity, where a device’s signal switches between two antennas to obtain the best reception.
The D-Puck features mixed polarization, and is an internal Planar Inverted F Antenna (PIFA) that requires a small ground plane to radiate efficiently at a gain of + 3 dBi in all operation bands. The antenna weighs 2 grams and has dimensions of 16 × 16 × 6 millimeters. The D-Puck comes in tape and reel packaging for high volume manufacturing.

Ethertronics debuts quad-band wireless
Ethertronics has announced the release of the world’s first quad-band wireless LAN internal antennas for global applications using the 802.11 a/b/g standards.
The new antennas, which begin shipping this month to one of the world’s largest chipset manufacturers, are designed for the 2.4, 5.2 and 5.8 GHz wireless LAN frequencies used extensively throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, as well as the newly licensed 4.9 GHz frequency exclusive to Japan.
Ethertronics’ Quad-Band WLAN internal antennas are available in two configurations. One configuration is a single, surface-mountable antenna component ready for automated, high volume assembly.
The second configuration is a complete module with antenna, connectors and cable for simplified mounting and integration, typically for mini-PCI applications in notebook computers.
Due to their miniature size, high efficiency and superior isolation properties the antennas can be placed very close to surrounding components in diversity applications, without sacrificing performance. This design flexibility makes integration in notebook computers, handheld devices and PC cards easier than ever before.
The market for advanced WLAN antennas continues to grow at a rapid pace. Notebook and desktop computers, PDAs, Tablet PCs, Access Points, PC Cards and now mobile phones are quickly moving to incorporate the latest technology.
