Nokia announced that a TETRA system it has deployed in Brazil—the first of its kind, according to Nokia—that will be used by public-safety agencies, public utilities, enterprises and government entities in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, has gone on line. The system consists of TETRA switching equipment, TETRA base stations, and a dispatcher workstation. Nokia was selected for the project by Telcom Telecomunicações do Brasil Ltda.
