Airaya has chosen Atheros Communications' wireless LAN chipset technology for use in its public-safety series of WirelessGRID bridges for wireless multipoint and backhaul networks in the 4.9 GHz band for homeland security and public safety.
Recently certified by the FCC, Airaya's WirelessGRID bridges combine four operating bands — 4.9 GHz, 5.2 GHz, 5.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz — and four channel-size selections to give public-safety organizations flexibility to communicate in multiple wireless environments.
The Atheros chipset features an Advanced Encryption Standard technology to enable real-time support for 802.11i security with no degradation of operating rates, according to the company.
