Five states adopt wireless meter reader system

Liberty Lake, Wash.-based Itron secured a contract with MidAmerican Energy Company and Rocky Mountain Power for the deployment of 1.2 million wireless electricity meters that have the company's embedded automated meter reading (AMR) technology installed. Also, nearly 700,000 Gas AMR endpoints will be deployed. The infrastructure will be installed in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Utah.
