Illinois city deploys 4.9 GHz wireless solution

Calumet City, Ill., has inserted Cisco Systems' 4.9 GHz wireless mobile interface card in Cisco 3200 Series wireless and mobile routers located in police patrol vehicles to give officers in the field access to secure high-bandwidth data applications.

In addition, Calumet City plans to integrate 4.9 GHz technology with its existing 802.11b wireless network infrastructure to enable various public safety applications and install Cisco 3200 Mobile Access Routers with 4.9 GHz capability into other public-safety vehicles
