Intermec's RFID hardware deployed at Microsoft, NASA

Mar 1, 2007 12:00 PM

RFID technology vendor Intermec announced it has been selected to supply its CV60 vehicle-mounted computers, IV7 vehicle-mounted RFID readers and IA33E RFID antennas to Microsoft Technology Centers throughout the U.S.

In other news, the company announced a cooperative research effort with NASA's George C. Marshall Space Flight Center to investigate new automatic identification tracking technologies and RFID devices for use on space vehicles. RFID tags that remain readable after exposure to extreme levels of ultraviolet radiation, atomic oxygen and contamination found in low-earth orbit will be evaluated and then certified for use on future space vehicles, and added to NASA's part identification requirements, according to the company.
