Marines invest in portable satellite-communications

The U.S. Marine Corps has selected satellite and wireless communications networks provider DataPath to provide an ultra-portable satellite communications solution for the Support Wide Area Network program. The solution includes satellite terminals that are small enough to be carried in suitcases or backpacks, portable kits that support voice-over-IP services, and technical support services that include training and field engineering. According to the company, the multiyear contract could total $30 million, which includes an initial delivery order worth $1 million.
