Mobile DVR system

Apr 1, 2008 12:00 PM, Donny Jackson

Motorola unveiled the DigitalPatroller DP-2, a new in-vehicle digital video recorder (DVR). Manufactured by Integrian — a company in which Motorola Ventures holds a minority stake — the DP-2 is a mobile DVR connected to a video camera in a police car. When triggered, the DVR records video from the camera and audio from the portable microphone worn by the officer.

Video is compressed in the MPEG-4 format and can be stored on the DVR hard drive or transmitted wirelessly to a central headquarters location, where it can be monitored or stored.

In other news, Motorola debuted a low-band mobile radio and an analog portable radio that operates in the UHF and VHF bands. The PM1200 is a mobile two-way radio that is replacing the discontinued MaraTrac line in the low-band space.

The CP110 is a portable analog radio operating in the VHF and UHF bands that is the successor to the company's CP100 radios. By using lithium-ion technology and improved battery design, the CP110 delivers more than 20 hours of battery life with a standard battery and up to 26 hours of battery life with an ultra-high-capacity battery, according to the company.
