NEWS Nextel to relocate headquarters to Washington, DC, area

Nextel Communications, Rutherford, NJ, will relocate its headquarters to the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. About 250 to 300 people will work in the new headquarters, and many of the functions located at the new facility will be consolidated from the company's existing head-office operations in Rutherford, Denver, Lafayette, CA, and Atlanta. The move is expected to be completed by early to mid-summer. Nextel had previously announced it would relocate to the Seattle area.
