UTC,The Telecommunications Association, Washington, an international trade association, has formed a business development section in reaction to growing interest from a number of utilities. The business development section will identify and promote business opportunities for UTC members; act as a forum for members to discuss, review and analyze potential business opportunities; assist members in leveraging their telecommunications and information-related assets; and identify and assess legal and regulatory barriers to pursuing business opportunities. In the first meeting, speakers from AT&T and ICG addressed the topic of strategic marketing, and UTC's senior staff attorney discussed business development aspects of the Telecommunications Act for utilities.
