Virginia fire chief honored for communications work

Charlottesville (Va.) Fire Department Deputy Chief Charles Werner recently was recognized by Virginia Gov. Mark Warner for his efforts to develop interoperable communications between public-safety agencies in the state. Warner specifically cited Werner — who is a regular contributor to MRT's monthly First Response column and who is a member of several state and federal interoperability groups — for his work on behalf of the Virginia Statewide Strategic Plan for Communications Interoperability.
