Gongju City in Korea’s Chungcheong Province now has the Internet as well as a municipal network. The geographically broad wireless mesh network by Korea’s KT Corp. uses technology from Firetide. It consists of the company’s HotPort mesh nodes and HotPoint access points to create the Gongju u-City network, which connects rural communities at distances varying between six to 11 miles and provides IP-based sensor network services for managing water and agricultural systems, according to the company.
