District of Columbia awards $110 million interoperability contract

LGS, an Alcatel-Lucent subsidiary, was awarded a regional wireless broadband network equipment contract by the District of Columbia as part of the National Capital Region Interoperability Program. The award is for a five-year contract with a potential to reach a value of up to $110 million. The company will provide a turnkey solution to deliver, install, configure and deploy a regional wireless broadband network. The first phase of the project will involve the installation of a broadband network in multiple National Capital Region jurisdictions, according to the company.
