Tacoma, Wash.-based Sagem Morpho announced that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) deployed the company’s Rapid ID system statewide. The system lets public safety officers in the field or other remote locations identify criminals. According to the company, data is acquired by a police officer on the street or a parole officer in a field office through an edge biometric scanner that scans digital fingerprint images from an individual. The device then transmits the digital print images either wirelessly or via a closed network to the Rapid ID system for matching against the approximately 4 million-record FDLE fingerprint database.
