GPS, cellular system tracks non-violent offenders

Omnilink Systems’ offender monitoring solution has been adopted by Salt Lake County (Utah) to electronically track non-violent offenders as they re-enter society. The solution uses GPS and cellular technologies to track people indoors and outdoors. Once placed on an offender, the device will alert officers immediately if the offender violates zones that are set as a condition of his or her release, according to the company.
