Companies collaborate on emergency communications system

SkyPort Global Communications signed a contract to provide satellite connectivity to Cisco’s Emergency Response Networks service. The service provides emergency voice, video and Internet connectivity for first responders during disasters when terrestrial communication is unavailable or disrupted. Under terms of the contract, Cisco’s command centers will transmit and receive voice, data and video communications using satellites linked through SkyPort’s teleport and network operations center in Houston.
