Transportation Department purchases digital sensor network

Mar 2, 2007 3:02 PM, - MRT

Traffic.com announced an agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) for the installation of the company’s digital sensor network of roadside traffic sensors along expressways around the Raleigh, N.C., metropolitan area. The network continuously collects real-time traffic data and transmits it wirelessly to a proprietary traffic information management system. Traffic information will include incident and accident reports, vehicle speeds, congestion levels, and travel and delay times. The data will be combined with NCDOT real-time data and incident and event-related updates, according to the company.
