Five states adopt wireless meter reader system

Liberty Lake, Wash.-based Itron secured a contract with MidAmerican Energy Company and Rocky Mountain Power for the deployment 1.2 million electricity meters that have the company’s embedded automated meter reading (AMR) technology installed, as well as nearly 700,000 Gas AMR endpoints. AMR-enabled meters that are automatically read via radio signal will be installed in Utah, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and South Dakota, respectively.
