Production started on beta, software-defined radios

The Boeing Co. has begun initial production of Engineering Design Models (EDMs) of its software-defined Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Ground Mobile Radios. The engineering models will undergo field and system regression testing throughout 2008, with government certification expected in late 2008, according to the company.
