Fire marshals and fire chiefs partner on interoperable communications

The National Association of State Fire Marshals and the Maine Fire Chiefs’ Association have partnered on a program to help fire departments achieve voice interoperability and improve incident commander operations at the scene of an emergency, the agencies announced. BAE Systems’ First InterComm system will be used to support the initiative, which is funded by two $800,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grants from the Department of Homeland Security for the Regional Interoperable Communications Initiative.
