Power companies deploy mobile voice

Qualcomm announced that its OmniTRACS mobile, two-way geostationary satellite communications system is being deployed by Carteret-Craven Electric (N.C.) and South Central Power Company (Ohio) electric cooperatives for real-time, wireless communications and data transfer. The system will let the office and field workers wirelessly transmit data, such as process orders and customer requests, according to the company.
