First responders tap into satellite network

EchoStar Communications’ DISH Network subsidiary EchoStar Fixed Satellite Services has entered into a contract with Sprint Nextel to provide domestic, Ku-band fixed satellite services capacity. EchoStar now will provide on-demand satellite capacity to support the Sprint Nextel Emergency Response Team, which works with first responders to coordinate communications during emergencies.
