Sep 30, 2005 3:33 PM

Positron Public Safety Systems recently worked with the Orleans Parish (La.) Communications District (OPCD) to deploy an interim 911 center in the parish to replace one that was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Positron delivered and staged within a one-week period a system consisting of the company’s Life Line 100 enhanced 911 controller and 19 Power 911 and Power MAP call-taking positions. All call-taking positions have access to digital orthographic file imagery and geographic information system data, and all calls are being recorded via a 128-channel digital logging recorder, Positron said.
