RELM adds VoIP to P25 basestations

May 13, 2005 1:13 PM

RELM Wireless said its BK Radio Series V Project 25-compliant digital basestations now are capable of transmitting and receiving voice-over-IP signals.

The new capability extends the communication area of the radios and enables remote access and control, said RELM President and CEO Dave Storey, in a statement. “VoIP adds great practical value to the P25 digital radio systems that are fundamental to emergency responders, and in our case, does so without adding comparable cost,” he said.

In other news, RELM said it has received a $700,000 order from the Department of the Interior for BK Radio P25 radios. Deliveries are scheduled for the second quarter of 2005.
