Agilent Technologies complies with LTE standards

Agilent Technologies announced its compliance with the March 2009 release of the 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard. The company's LTE standard-compliant test solutions include its N9080/82A LTE measurement applications, available on the X-Series signal analyzers, brings physical layer testing of uplink (SC-FDMA) and downlink (OFDMA) LTE signals in a single solution to the test rack. The N9080/82A measurement applications support LTE FDD and LTE TDD (as a beta release), respectively.

Alion Science and Technology supports Army's spectrum management office

Alion Science and Technology will support the Army Spectrum Management Office with RF spectrum modeling, simulation, analysis, certification and automation services under a $7.8 million contract. The contract, issued under the Alion-operated Modeling and Simulation Information Analysis Center (MSIAC) contract vehicle, will provide ASMO with the technical services needed to ensure that adequate RF spectrum access is available for current and future Army platforms. Under the contract, the company will provide a means to design, test and certify spectrum-dependent system technology; develop improved software tools to model RF compatibility and availability on the battlefield; and assist ASMO in evaluating Wireless Network after Next technology.

Fortress Technologies gets Army approval

Fortress Technologies announced that its ES520 secure wireless bridge has been added to the U.S. Army Information Assurance Approved Products List (Army IA-APL), establishing it as an approved technology for use across the U.S. Army. The company secured product certification and IA compliance through the Army's Network Enterprise Technology Command.

Iowa 911 center receives text messages

The Black Hawk County (Iowa) 9-1-1 Service Board announced that the Black Hawk Consolidated Public Safety Communications Center now officially can receive text messages from select wireless subscribers in the county. The call center successfully completed the text trial this past June and is now the first 911 call center in the country able to receive text messages directly into 9-1-1. According to the board, those individuals with speech and hearing impairments, or callers otherwise unable to place a voice call, can use text messaging to communicate directly with a 911 telecommunicator in an emergency.
