Navy deploys Northrop Grumman 911 CAD system

Jan 1, 2005 12:00 PM

The U.S. Navy has deployed a new 911 computer-aided dispatch system at its Regional Operations Command and Control Center at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, according to manufacturer Northrop Grumman. The system will enable the Navy to consolidate individual dispatch operations, which will result in more coordinated responses to 911 calls from military personnel, the company said.

In other news, Northrop Grumman said it has received a contract from the County of Roanoke, Va., to construct a 77,000-square-foot public-safety facility for its police, fire and emergency services departments. The facility will house an Enhanced 911 communications center and an emergency operations center.

As part of the effort, the county's current public-safety radio system will be upgraded and relocated to the new site, and Northrop Grumman will install a new E911 telephone system and computer-aided dispatch system with mobile- and field-reporting capabilities, the company said. The contract is worth $26 million over the next 27 months, the company said.
