Indiana school taps SpectraLink Wi-Fi handsets

A Fort Wayne, Ind., elementary school has added voice capability to its existing Wi-Fi data network by deploying Wi-Fi-based wireless handsets produced by SpectraLink Corp. Teachers, administrators and support staff at Covington Elementary School have been outfitted with NetLink i640 handsets, which combine push-to-talk walkie-talkie capability, traditional voice and text-messaging. The handsets are supported by the deployment of 25 access points deployed throughout the school grounds, including parking lots, athletic fields and hallways, according to SpectraLink. The NetLink systems ties into the school district’s PBX network.
