M/A-COM said it has been awarded a $2.2 million contract from the United States Enrichment Corporation in Paducah, Ken., to provide an eight-channel ProVoice EDACS (Enhanced Digital Access Communications System) trunked radio system. The system will support more than 500 users and two dispatch consoles, and will include M/A-COM’s ProFile over-the-air reprogramming feature, which enables added efficiency and ease of operation, the company said.

In addition, M/A-COM announced a $3.6 million contract from Somerset County, Md., to deploy a communications system consisting of its EDACS technology, the ProVoice analog and digital communications network and a two-site, 800 MHz, GPS simulcast system that will provide both digital and analog coverage. Somerset County will also be able to send voice communications through the Maryland Eastern Shore Inter-Operability Network (MESIN). The MESIN system, being installed by M/A-COM, is a network designed to serve first responders in nine counties along the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2004, according to M/A-COM.

Finally, M/A-COM announced a $2.1 million contract from Duck River (Shelbyville, Tenn.) Electric Membership Corp. that calls for the company to install a conventional, Project 25-compliant UHF radio system that will offer trunked radio system capabilities. The system will provide direct communications across Duck River Electric’s 2500-square-mile service territory on a district-by-district basis, regardless of location or origin of radio signal, M/A-COM said.
