Nortel Networks Joins WiMAX Forum

Nortel Networks has joined the WiMAX Forum, which promotes interoperability and certification of broadband wireless products based on the IEEE 802.16 standard for wireless metropolitan-area networks.

Nortel is expected to offer its expertise in the development of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) technologies, which enable service providers to use less spectrum to serve more customers with a single base station, the forum said.
