Harris Corp. announced a $12 million contract with the United States Navy to provide its shipboard high-frequency (HF) radio communications systems. The contract has a ceiling of $41 million, according to Harris, which will supply HF systems that will be deployed on warships, guided missile destroyers, aircraft carriers and guided missile cruisers.

According to Harris, this marks the third contract it has received from the Navy in support of its effort to update its fleet’s HF radio systems. "The new contract for these shipboard systems, coupled with the widespread acceptance of Harris's Falcon II line of software-defined radios by U.S. Navy expeditionary forces like the Seabees and Naval Coastal Warfare, further deepens our relationship with the Navy," said Dana Mehnert, vice president, defense operations for the company’s RF communications division, in a statement.
