The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) has announced that Rebecca Blank, acting U.S. secretary of commerce, will address conference attendees during its opening general session on Monday in Minneapolis.

The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is the federal government’s lead in the implementation of the public-safety spectrum legislation that was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama in February of this year.

GTSI, a division of UNICOM Global, recently announced it will be upgrading the Miami International Airport’s surveillance systems and supporting infrastructure, leveraging technologies from NICE Systems to design and implement an updated and expanded security network, on the interior and exterior of the airport.

GTSI is providing an integrated solution for video management, video analytics, ground-based radar, high-resolution cameras and secure wireless networking. In addition, the integrated solution will include an upgrade to NICE Systems’ NiceVision Net 2.5, which enables advanced video analytics for runway incursion detection that the airport can use to monitor and secure restricted areas.

Zetronand DanielsElectronicsjointly announced the successful testing of Zetron’s Project 25 (P25) Console Subsystem Interface (CSSI) with Daniels’ trunked radio system. The success of this effort confirms that Zetron’s Advanced Communications (Acom) system utilizing the CSSI is able to operate seamlessly with Daniels’ trunked P25 System, according to the companies.
