An amateur radio operator received approval from the City of Wheaton (Ill.) to erect a 42-foot-tall radio tower in his backyard, despite the objection of neighbors, the Wheaton Sun reported. The ham had requested a permit to build a 65-foot tower, but the city council settled on 42 feet, based on the village’s 30-foot limit on home height and its 12-foot limit on antennas, the paper said.
